Procurement Category Expert – Software

Our client is a global procurement services and technology company who are supporting a major customer in the Chicago area. They are looking to recruit a permanent IT Software Category Expert to identify, qualify and execute savings opportunities alongside the existing procurement function.
To be considered suitable for this role, you must have significant North American procurement experience across the Software sub-category, including areas such as AI, Cloud, SaaS, PaaS, etc.
You will:
- Lead the delivery of a Category Strategy for the customer, building close relationships with key stakeholders to ensure full understanding of their environment and requirements.
- Manage sourcing as well as specific innovative and transformational projects across the spend base.
- Develop and implement supplier relationship management that support business performance and cost reduction targets.
- Lead strategic sourcing projects aligned to category strategies to put in place best value contracts.
- Report to the Procurement Services Director and proactively inform of delivery progress against targets, escalate any issues and identify opportunities to align to the broader organisation.

Qualifications:
- Category management experience in Software Category management with a proven track record of successful procurement. Experience across multiple categories would be beneficial.
- Experience in the IT industry in roles including, but not limited to, sourcing, buying and supply chain management.
- Excellent knowledge of distributors, publishers and products.
- Relevant professional qualification and/or professional body membership.
